Apparently the last TO Shoebox meetup was in 2005. Erm. Is there anyone out there interested in doing another one?

Toronto for 2007! (Alohomora: Unlocking the Gates to Harry Potter [14 Feb 2006|02:42pm]

***I realize this post doesn't pertain to shoebox_project, but I thought it might be of interest since it has to do with both Harry Potter and Toronto. If this post violates this community's rules, I apologize, and I understand if it must be taken down.***

Most of you have probably heard about Lumos 2006, Phoenix Rising 2007, The Witching Hour, Convention Alley, etc.

What are they? They are mostly academic (but not entirely) conferences/symposiums/conventions about the Harry Potter books. (To get a better idea of what they're all about, check out the links above.)

Harry Potter Education Fanon (HPEF), a non-profit educational organization is currently accepting bids for the location of a similar event in 2007. On the HPEF 2007 event thread on the Lumos message board, I suggested Toronto as an option, because I don't want to pay for airfare because Toronto would be an ideal place to host such an event.

A couple of other people who are interested in putting in a bid for Toronto have created a website and a theme for a possible symposium in Toronto:

Alohomora 2007: Unlocking the Gates to Harry Potter

If you (or anyone you know) would like to help out with researching, organizing, and documenting the bid (which is due March 31st, 2006), please talk to me or e-mail: alohomora2007@yahoo.com.

Note: You don't have to live in Toronto to help out! Anyone from anywhere is welcome! And please pass on the link to the website: http://www.geocities.com/alohomora2007/ to fellow HP fans, to your friends-list, etc.

Thank you!

Hooray! The meet-up is tomorrow!

I think that I'm re-dying my hair tonight so that I'll be easy to spot: Black at the very tips of my hair, and hot pink just above it.

I'm bringing my camera, too. :)

Okay, everyone... a friendly reminder!!

Toronto's Shoebox Project Meet-up is this Saturday @ Indigo in The Eaton Center!
Please leave a comment if you're planning on coming!

Who: You, of course.
What: Toronto's Shoebox Meet-Up.
Where: Indigo in the Eaton Center... More specifically, Starbucks in Indigo.
When: Saturday, Feb. 12 @ 1pm
Why and how sort of take care of themselves, I think.

I'm sorry to any of you who can't attend, but if this one goes well, I'm sure that we could have others.

Do we want to wear something recognizable, like a certain colour, or something?

Hooray! I'm really excited that this is finally happening! :)

Since I didn't get a very big response from the last post that I made about changing the date, here's another little poll. As it stands right now, I'm quite sure that I'm going to change it to February 12th, because nearly half of the people who answered the last poll said that they couldn't make it on January 29th.

So. The date of the Toronto Shoebox Project Meet-Up has been changed to Saturday, February 12th!

Can you come to the Shoebox Project Meet-Up on Saturday February 12th?

If you said maybe or no, what's keeping you from saying yes?

All of the rest of the information about the meet-up is the same as originally planned in this post.

I'm sorry for changing the date on you guys... I know that you've all been waiting patiently for this.

MOD POST! PLEASE READ!! [21 Jan 2005|06:31pm]

Alright. So it sounds like there are a few of you who can't go to the meet-up on the 29th.

If I changed the date to February 12th, would everyone be able to make it? Something has come up on my end too, and I'll cancel those plans if I have to, because I want this meet-up to happen... But Feb.12 would be best for me.

What about the rest of you? February 12, or the original date of January 29th?

I'll make another post on Sunday night to let you know what the final, confirmed, not-to-be-changed-under-any-circumstances date is.

MOD POST! [16 Jan 2005|06:30pm]

Finally! Christmas is over and I've settled down and all that, so now it's time to announce the quazi-official date of the Shoebox Meet-Up in Toronto!

That's right, folks! The Toronto Shoebox Meet-Up is on January 29th, 2005!

I apologize for the short notice and I hope that everyone is able to come. If it turns out that there are a lot of you who can't make it to the meet-up because of the date, it's not too late to re-arrange... But until further notice, January 29th is the official meet-up date.

So. Getting down to business:

Who? Fans of Shoebox or Harry Potter in general. Bring your friends!!
What? The first annual Canadian Shoebox Project meet-up.
Where? Indigo in the Eaton Center in Toronto. (On 220 Younge Street.)
When? January 29th. The time of the meet-up will be posted after you take the poll and let me know what's best for you.
Why? To meet cool people in close proximity and to show those New Yorkers that we're just as cool as them. :P
How? A lot of disorganized planning on my part and hopefully a lot of RSVPs on your part.

Will you be able to make it to the meet up on January 29th?

What time is best for you?

Morning: 10am-12pm
Afternoon: 1pm-3pm
Evening: 4pm-6pm
Night: 6pm-9pm

If you can't make it, why not?

Do you have any suggestions as to what we should do?

MOD POST! PLEASE READ! [30 Dec 2004|12:06am]

Hey there guys!

I hope that everyone had a great holiday!

Mine has been really busy and I'm ashamed to admit that I sort of forgot about the Shoebox Meetup. I still want to do it, and I will.. But I'm thinking now that it ought to be at the end of January. January 29th is a Saturday... How is that for everyone?

If it's not good for you, let me know. Nothing's set in stone yet, but it will have to be soon.

I'd like to know how many of you are planning on being there.

See you all soon! <3

Hey everyone!
I finally got around to joining this community. I've been a big fan of shoebox_project for a while now... I live in Guelph so thats not too far from Toronto. A meet-up in January sounds like a lot of fun!

Hey everyone. I just thought I'd stop over here and say hello to fellow Canadian shoeboxers. So.. erm.. hello! I'm very much up for a shoebox meetup in Toronto. I'm in Ottawa right now, but I suppose I can make it over there for a weekend or something. Or longer. It's not really as if I have anything else to do. Anyway, yeah.. it would be very cool to meet you all.

P.S: sasha_black has to be there or I will throw a tantrum like a little child. :D Thanks very much.

"This is because we do not love you. It is tragic." [25 Oct 2004|01:51am]

Being presently in the throes of layouting and kind-- how do I upload such and such to the community? No idea how to access style customization in anything but my own journal; it would also be nice to tweak bits of it on the community itself, since it's a non-paid account and probably can't do certain tricks though I can't remember which ones for the life of me and---

MOD POST [21 Oct 2004|11:58pm]

Hello again!

It's me! The MOD! And I come with updates on the state of the Toronto Meet-Up!

As it stands, it seems that most people are in favour of meeting in the Eaton Center in Toronto. This sounds like a most excellent plan. I'm suggesting that we meet inside of Indigo... I'm pretty sure that there's a cafe in there. Either a Starbucks or something like it.

I think that the best days so far would be January 6th (because it's a Thursday, and once upon a glorious time, that would have meant that it was Shoebox Day) or the following Saturday, which would be the 8th.

Which would you prefer? Thursday or Saturday? And is everyone okay with meeting in Indigo? For those who don't know, Indigo is like Chapters: A really huge and evil (but wonderful) chain bookstore. It's on the top floor, near Sears (I think.)

Ugh. Can't think. Just turned the heat on and my 8x11 prison cell of a dorm room is turning into a sauna. Must... Have... AIR! XD

How absolutely BRILLIANT!

I'm in Mississauga, so Toronto is a mere 40 minute bus ride away for me. If we're looking to meet up in January sometime, I start school in the city on January 3rd. So if it's during the week, I'd be able to join in any time after 4:30. I'm all good on weekends though.

I think the Eaton Centre would be a good place to meet up. Easy to find and all that. Just my two cents. ;)

Good morning, sunshines! ...It's after midnight. So counts. Anyway. Hailing in from Waterloo and putting one big goldstar of approval on the Toronto region meetup. MMm! It'd be amazing. Can't wait to see things develope. By the by-- do the modgods want help styling the layout and icons? I can whip something up what-ho if everybody's too busy. Not to say I'm anything but terribly busy, except, um. I'd do it anyway. Ha.

Yay Toronto! [01 Oct 2004|01:07pm]

[ mood | awake ]

This is my first post in any shoebox related community and watch as I dive in... and then continue to lurk creepily...

I would be down with a meet-up in Toronto. Anytime is probably good for me. I live/go to school in Hamilton but getting downtown isn't difficult. If there's anyone else in Hamilton, I wouldn't be averse to a mini-shoebox-meet-up.

Anyway, consider my interest expressed and I shall now revert to skulking in shadows.

Toronto Meetup?! Count me in!! [19 Sep 2004|01:47am]

[ mood | cheerful ]

Whoa! Sorry, xanimagusblackx...I saw your post over at cult_sbp, and then it was drowned by all the frillions of posts that the Cult seems to get an hour, and unfortunately it completely slipped my mind. But hey, I'm here now, right? Yay!

So here goes: I'd be all for excited about TOTALLY DOWN with a SBP meeting in Toronto! I live in Guelph...can it be an honourary part of the GTA, just for Shoebox-sake? *mimics Sirius' puppy eyes, the ones that make Remus all wibbly*

Yeah, anyway, early January would be fab for me...right after first semester finals and right before classes start back up again! But any time in January would work. Mod-ly beings -- Let me know if you need any help!

Hooray for SBP_Toronto! Let's show those New Yorkers that Canada loves SBP, too!!!

Hey there, just checking in.

I think a Toronto meet-up would be awesome. Awesomely awesome. And I'm not he only one who thinks so. I have some friends [*shock*] who I was talking today at lunch, and they said that they would love to go to something like that [this.].

January seems like a good time, but I know my holidays end early [my break goes from Dec. 18th (my birthday!) 'til Jan. 2nd.]

Still, great idea and if I can make it [or help out in any way] I will.

Mod Post [16 Sep 2004|12:23am]

[ mood | hopeful ]

Okay. So. Here it is. My attempt to arrange a Shoebox Project meet-up in Toronto!

First thing's first: That icon is HIDEOUS. I really don't expect any members to actually want to join with the layout being what it is. I swear, I used to be able to make pretty icons. Maybe I'll try again later when I'm not so overloaded with school work.

Now then. I don't actually know how many shoeboxers there are in the Greater Toronto area, so I get the feeling that this is going to be a really small meet-up. But that just means that we'll get to know each other better. :)

If any of you have Harry Potter friends who don't like Shoebox, invited them along, too! We don't have to limit ourselves to just Shoebox fans.

So, I'm thinking that January is a good time because it's a time when most of us are out of school. Does anyone know yet when their Christmas Break begins and ends?

I haven't thought of a place to meet up yet. If we were meeting in Brantford, my hometown, we could meet at the Toast Cafe. We have one of those there. :P But since I don't think that there's one of those in Toronto, I'm thinking of coffee shops and stuff. Anyone know of a good place? What's easy for you guys to get to?

Yay ... and then nothing. [15 Sep 2004|05:53pm]

HURRAH!!!! One for we Canucks. I'd LOVE to do a Toronto meet up. At the moment, however I'm in Vancouver with no clue as to if I will be able to get away in January or with what money or ... anything.

Just thought I'd come in here and make a big deal out of nothing!
